Name: Daniel Apicella
AKA: Dan Apps
DOB: 02/08/1980
DJStyle: Trance(Various)
- My style varies from venue to venue, and depends on what point during the evening I am playing. It varies from Tech-House/Trance for an early evening set, to Euphoric/Hard Trance for a peak time/headlining set.
My main influences are Armin Van Buuren, and Paul Van Dyk, for their production skills, ability to work the crowd, andthe way they construct their sets.
I have various technical skills which I often use during my sets, which include Scratching, Double beat mixing, live remixing, and live vocals with professional singer, Maria Reeves.
- Experience -
I have played at a wide range of venues, from 400 capacity up to 2000. My first residency was at Club EQ in Southsea, Portsmouth for Twisted Promotions which was held on every Wednesday night. At this venue I played a wide range of Hard House and Trance which went down with a bang every time.
Through the success of the Twisted nights at Club EQ, they progressed to a more popular venue in Bognor Regis at The Empire, which played host to the Adrenalin nights. The Twisted nights ran successfully for well over a year, as well as reaching full capacity nearly every week.
Due to the success at Twisted in Bognor Regis, I was picked up by Southampton based promoters Pucker Up Promotions, to take on a Friday night residency at Club-M, playing Euphoric and Uplifting Trance.
By now I had gained a loyal following of clubbers which attended most of my nights across the south. After working with local promoters Club Kingdom on a series of Monthly nights in various venues across the south, they moved to a permanent weekly slot at Earth in Eastleigh. I played along side DJs such as Phil Martin who is now successfully running UK record label Soulful Solutions.
Through promoting myself and building a reputation, I was offered a slot at the recently revamped Matrix in Reading, Playing along side Nick Denton, plus some other well known industry guests.
Since August 2001 I have played for promoters Sound Proj-X (http://www.soundprojx.com) who is an organisation involved in setting up licensed outdoor and club events in the South. Their events have become more and more popular each year, giving me the opportunity to play along side several well known industry guests. My past success at Sound Proj-X events has recently earned me a permanent residency for all future events.
- Aims -
Since graduating from the ACM/Vestax Academy I have started writing and producing my own music in partnership with owner of ukclubdj.com, Matt Auckland. We are working on setting up a Record Label, which we will release House and Trance tunes on.
I aim to establish a career in DJing as well as production, and build upon my current loyal following of clubbers.
